FTC (First Tech Challenge) Robotics Scrimmage

Truman will be hosting workshops and practice robotics competitions for teams around the city on March 15th, 9Am t0 2Pm. These teams will be participating in the FTC robotics event at the Javitts Center on April 5, 2008. This is the inaugural event for this level of competition and is sponsored by FIRST.
FIRST, For Inspiration and Recognition of Science Technology, is a not-for-profit organization that sponsors the FIRST Lego League and the FIRST Robotics Competition. This year FIRST has sponsored a new event in NYC, the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), a mid-level robotics competition for high-school students. It offers the traditional challenge of a FIRST competition but with a more accessible and affordable robotics kit.
Truman’s Robotics Team will participate in FTC in April. The group has formed two separate teams, the GIGABOTS (our newbies) and the BOTZILLAS (our “varsity” group).

Mr. Williams facilitates parent involvement within the school community by working with the school Principal, school leadership team, PTA, and various community groups. Mr. Williams is dedicated to creating a welcoming environment for parents withing the school.
