Truman High School Student Selected as Congressional Page

September 25, 2007

Ricardo Pratts has been selected to serve as a Congressional Page for Congressman Joseph Crowley (7th Congressional District of New York) in Washington, DC this fall term. Ricardo is one of only 100 young men and women from across the nation to be selected for this prestigious position.

Congressional Pages have served in the halls of Congress for over 150 years. Pages must be high school juniors and at least 16 years of age. Academic standing is among the most important criteria used in the final selection. Ricardo completed a vigorous application process in which hewrote an essay entitled Why I Want to be a Page. He was also interviewed by Congressman Crowley’s office, and had his Truman transcript reviewed with a fine tooth comb. Obviously, Ricardo passed the test with flying colors!

Ricardo arrived at Union Station in Washington D.C on September 14th. He is attending the House Page School in the Thomas Jefferson Building of the Library of Congress. In addition to his page duties in the House of Representatives, Ricardo will be engaged in a full program of honors classes, college preparatory classes as well as extracurricular and weekend activities.

Ricardo is in his third year of the Law Program at Truman. It is exciting that a young man of his caliber is afforded such an excellent opportunity in the field he eventually would like to work in. If any staff members would like to wish Ricardo well you can write him at the House Page Dormitory c/o Ellen McNamara, Office of the Clerk, H-154, US Capitol, Washington, DC 20515

CONGRATULATIONS TO RICARDO AND TO HIS FAMILY, FRIENDS AND TEACHERS WHO HAVE HELPED HIM ALONG THE WAY!!!!
