Truman High School Scores an “A” on 2011-2012 City Progress Report

It’s a letter that can mean a lot of things:  from indicating top-quality food items in the grocery store, to the cleanest and healthiest restaurants, earning a score of “A” is hard work.  Just ask any student in first through twelfth grades around report card time.  But now, the efforts of Truman faculty, staff and students is being recognized by the city.  Truman is now an “A” school.

Chancellor Dennis Walcott released the sixth annual Progress Reports for more than 500 New York City schools on November 26th.  According to a press release, the reports “award letter grades to schools based on student progress toward graduation, performance on standardized tests and coursework, and student attendance – as well as surveys of parents, students and teachers about their schools.”

For the 2011-2012 school year, Truman scored a 71.0, a full 1.6 point jump from their prior-year score.  Now ranked in the 69th percentile, the score means that Truman scored better than nearly 7 out of every 10 schools in the city.  To view the complete progress report for the 2011-2012 academic year, CLICK HERE.
