Denim Day ~ An International Sexual Assault Awareness Campaign ~ 4/29/15

Make a social statement with your fashion statement. Wear jeans with a purpose!

 Denim Day 2015

In 1999, an Italian Supreme Court Justice overturned a rape conviction because the victim was wearing skinny jeans at the time of the attack. The Chief Judge argued “because the victim wore very, very tight jeans, she had to help him remove them, and by removing the jeans it was no longer rape but consensual sex.”

We ask all community members, elected officials, businesses and students to make a social statement with their fashion statement and on this day wear jeans as a visible means of protest against misconceptions that surround sexual assault.

By wearing jeans on April 29: Denim Day, you…

  • Send a message to survivors that you support them in their healing.
  • Commit to become more educated.
  • Break the silence surrounding sexual violence!
