Nearly 50 students attended the first annual Media Mixer Day in the Park on September 23rd.

BRONX, NY – It was a meeting of the past, the present and the future at Pelham Bay Park on September 23rd as the Truman Media Program hosted it’s first annual Media Mixer Networking Picnic.

“The idea was entirely the kids,” according to media teacher Mr. Roush.  “At the end of each year I do an informal survey to ask the kids how we can make next year better.  The upperclassmen all agreed that they wanted a way to get to know the new freshmen much earlier in the school year.”

The program welcomed two new incoming freshman classes with team, trust, and communication-building games and exercises.  A photo scavenger hunt around the park was the highlight of the day, teaming brand new students with some as old as juniors in college.

“Age didn’t matter,” Roush said.  “It was so fun to watch the old come together and make friends with the new.”

The students say they plan to hold similar events later in the school year.
