Media Students Attend NY Auto Show

A live audience listens as the hosts of the Consumer Reports Talking Cars Podcast chat about the NY International Auto Show

NEW YORK, NY – Five students from the Truman Media Program took to the floor of the New York International Auto Show on Press Day, March 29th.  They were guests of Consumer Reports, at a taping of the popular video podcast called “Talking Cars.”  Brandonlee Eccleston (Sr.), Jose Pagan (So.), Jesus Guerrero (Jr.), Daniel Rohoman and Abel Alexander (Sr.) got to be members of the audience before roaming the auto show floor.

Brandonlee Eccleston asks the podcast panel a question.

“It was cool,” according to Eccleston.  “It felt exclusive because we had press passes.  There was great energy and great vibes.”  Student photographers Alexander, Eccleston and Pagan spent the afternoon capturing creative shots of the latest and greatest offerings from automakers.  In addition to posing with and sitting inside the vehicles, unique displays also included virtual reality headsets and demonstrations of new auto safety technology from Toyota and Nissan.

During the podcast,  the audience was given the opportunity to ask questions of the Talking Cars panel.  Eccleston was the first to be selected and asked the podcasters to recommend a great affordable used car for a new college student that would still allow him to “pick up girls.”  The question elicited lots of laughter from both the audience and the panelists.

“It felt great to get a reaction from people who are known in the car community,” Eccleston added.  He said that the technical setup of the podcast left him a bit surprised.  “I expected them to have much larger lights and cameras, but they just used the natural surroundings of the car show, and the cameras were basic like ours.”

The students were also joined by Truman High School alum, Raymond Raimundi.  Raimundi is currently working as an anchor for FiOS News.
