NEW YORK, NY – When the network calls – you answer!  And for eight lucky students in Truman’s Media Communications Program, that opportunity kicks off this month with their participation in CBS News Network’s “Eye On the Future” Program.

“I really feel that they won’t truly understand the significance of the experience they’re having until they’re out of college and looking for that first career move,” said Mr. David Roush, Truman’s Media teacher.  “The networking and hands-on learning they’re doing is something most college students would give anything to have… and they’re getting it in high school!”

“I’m looking forward to being in a professional work environment,” said sophomore Jacob Green.

During the program, students will spend six Saturdays at CBS News Headquarters in Manhattan, working with everyone from editors of 60 Minutes, to producers of CBS This Morning and the CBS Evening News with Norah O’Donnell.  The program will teach students how to write and shoot news stories, disseminate news via social media platforms, and they’ll even get a chance to try their hand at anchoring on the set of CBS This Morning and Evening News.

“I’m really just looking forward to meeting and forging relationships with people who are higher up in the world than myself and could certainly help me reach those heights (not only) now but also in the future,” said junior Adrian Sanchez.

This year’s participants include sophomores Kristopher Bishun and Jacob Green; juniors Daniel Rohoman, Adrian Sanchez, David Robinson and Dylan Spence; and seniors Navier Patterson and Samuel Moise.  They will join two students from the Hudson Guild program in Manhattan.  This is Truman’s second year participating in the program.

“We certainly hope that this will be the second of many more years to come,” said Mr. Roush.  Enjoy some video clips from the 2018 participants on their final day of the internship:
