JROTC Cleans Up and Promotes Citizenship

October 15, 2007

On October 3, twenty-five cadets of Truman’s JROTC gathered at the school to pick trash, sweep, rake, and pull weeds, with one goal in mind: to help beautify the grounds.

“This is just one of the activities we do to promote citizenship,” said MSgt Antonelli.

Cadet Koena Garrett, when asked by a friend to explain why she was picking up trash, responded, “because I want to.” MSgt Antonelli believes that her comment “represents the tremendous attitude some of our cadets possess. I think it speaks well of her and the other cadets who are seen making a positive impact on our campus.”

If you are interested in having your class/group join the next clean up, please contact MSgt Antonelli at AAntone@schools.nyc.gov.
