BRONX, NY – In celebration of Juneteenth, the Sylvan Learning Center Northeast Bronx has announced its annual community service days, offering free academic assessments for local families. The neighborhood initiative aims to help Bronx students identify learning gaps and provide families with critical insight into tailored tutoring strategies ahead of the upcoming academic year.

The complimentary evaluations include SAT and ACT Diagnostics, alongside Comprehensive Insight Assessments in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics. Each assessment takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to complete. According to center organizers, these diagnostic tools are designed to pinpoint exactly where students need support and how personalized instruction can accelerate their academic growth.

The free sessions will be hosted at the Sylvan center located at 115A Dreiser Loop (Lower Level), Bronx, NY 10475. Families can bring their children during two designated time slots: Friday, June 19th, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday, June 20th, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

“These assessments help families identify academic gaps and provide insight into how personalized tutoring can support their children’s growth,” stated Mariah Aviles-Torres, Executive Assistant at Sylvan Learning Center Northeast Bronx.

While the event is open to the community, advance registration via the event flyer’s QR code is highly encouraged to ensure proper staffing at the center. Representatives will also have information available regarding Sylvan’s upcoming six-week summer intensive programs.
