BRONX, NY – Back to School season is here, and one Truman High School Media student is kicking off her junior year with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to co-anchor a real television broadcast on News 12.

“I am absolutely excited.  This is like a dream come true,” Destiny Delvalle said.  Destiny was invited by News 12 The Bronx and News 12 Brooklyn to co-host a portion of that network’s Back-to-School special episode of “State of Our Schools.”  The show focuses on news and issues in education in the city.

“We have so many outstanding talents here in the program,” said media teacher Mr. David Roush.  “I know Destiny is going to hit a home run with this opportunity.  Her poise, her professionalism and her raw talent in front of a camera lens is some of the best I’ve seen in my 14 years here at Truman.”

Destiny visited the News 12 studios on September 2nd to meet with News 12 anchor Amanda Bossard, and get a feel for the studio.

“I was absolutely amazed because it did not look like how I imagined it to be at all.  It was completely different” Delvalle recalled.  “You think that you’re going to just walk in and you’ll see everything but you really see everything and then some.  You see the background, you see everyone getting prepared, you see everything behind the scenes.”

The Back-to-School episode of “State of Our Schools” airs on News 12 Wednesday, September 7th at 7pm.  It will then re-air on Thursday September 8th at 10am and 11pm, and finally again on Sunday September 11th at 7pm.
