Fordham University Hosts ELL Parent Series

Fordham RBERN is facilitating a series of online professional learning workshops for parents of ELLs. Please see below information and share with families. Thank you.
The series includes four sessions.
The sessions are:
  1. Know Your Rights: This workshop deals with the rights of the parents in terms of the child’s education, translations, program choices, and communication.
  2. Communicating with Your Child: Parents will learn the best ways to discuss and share academic and social-emotional issues with the child.
  3. Requirements for Graduation: This workshop deals with all parents and guardians need to understand to ensure their child graduates on time.
  4. Extra-Curricular Activities and Summer Opportunities: Parents, guardians, and students will receive information about different after-school programs that they can participate in, including summer programs, so that they can continue to learn, obtain internships, or participate in recreational activities during the summer.
These online workshops were developed to empower parents and guardians in their children’s education. Each of the four sessions is presented in English and Spanish. Please look at the attached document for more details on topics covered in these workshops, dates for English sessions and Spanish sessions, and the times of the workshops.  Each workshop is one hour long.
Who are these workshops for?
These workshops help parents understand their rights. Therefore, these workshops are for parents, but school and district staff are also welcome.
How to register.
The document includes the QR code for the registration.  One QR code is for the English Series, and the other is for the Spanish Series. Could you make sure they register in the appropriate language? They only have to register once.  Once registered, we will send them a link to join on a specific date.  The connection and a reminder will be sent before each session.
